Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Royal Wedding Cake is Worth $80,000

Unfortunately for all the single ladies attending Friday’s royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton, the bride won’t be participating in the traditional bouquet toss.

Instead, the princess-to-be plans to lay her wedding bouquet on Westminster Abbey’s Grave of the Uknown Warrior, according to the U.K.’s Telegraph. This is nothing new for royals — the Queen Mum reportedly started the custom in 1923 when she married the future King George VI (yes, the one played by Colin Firth).

Since Kate plans to pass on one commonly committed wedding reception custom, we wonder if she and her new husband will consider:

The garter toss: Surely they won’t be laying this on the Unknown Warrior’s grave alongside the flowers.

Shoving cake into each other’s mouths: It’s an $80,000 cake so they may not want to waste it.

Pinning money to the bride’s dress: Common to many cultures, but perhaps a bit gauche for the royals? Plus, guest would need to pin approximately $434,000 to Middleton to account for the cost of the dress alone.
